Just imagine sitting outside with friends
and family admiring your beautiful lawn and garden as warm spring breezes
blow. Yes, it's still dreary and cold
outside,
and
spring feels as if it may never come. In reality March 20th, the first day of
spring, is just a few short weeks
away. It certainly is not too early to
begin planning for your garden. Just as with every other
aspect of day to day living, we at green earth friends encourage you to consider
the environment in your planning.
What do tea bags, dryer lint and egg shells possibly have to do with planning a
garden? Well, if you really want to plant an eco-friendly, green garden then
consider composting. Yes, tea bags, dryer lint and egg shells are just a few of
the items that can be used in your compost pile. According to the Environmental
Protection Agency, 24 percent of the waste produced in the United States
consists of yard trimmings and food residuals. Composting can do alot for your
garden and keep much of that waste out of landfills.
Steering clear of chemical pesticides and fertilizers; using a rain barrel to
water your garden; mixing in herbs and flowers that naturally repel insects and
pests are just a few measures you can implement to produce a green,
earth friendly garden that you can be proud of. So, if your green
thumb is just itching to be even greener, click on the links below to learn
more.

Stop the plastic
madness! Buy yourself a reusable bag or two. You may even have some canvas bags
around the house that will work just fine. Remember to stash them in your car so
they're handy when you shop. |
